Whoever you are, whatever your level, get in touch and join us for some hockey soon!
We are one.
Leading the way on and off the field, we set the standard as East London's top-tier hockey club—leading in performance, player development, community impact and top vibes. We have 9 women’s and 9 men’s teams, including boys and girls development teams, that compete in the London League. We also play indoor hockey, have two mixed teams, two masters teams and frequent social tournaments throughout the year.
From London Premier Division to complete beginner, we play, support, and socialise together.
We also have an incredible youth section, providing affordable East London hockey sessions to children age 5+, and run free Back 2 Hockey all year round — adult sessions aimed specifically at those who’ve never played hockey (or haven’t for a while).
We are young.
Started in 2016, Wapping Kidds was the first inner London hockey club for school age children. We are extremely honoured to provide junior hockey in Tower Hamlets and Newham, have 100+ children playing each week, and are excited to continue growing ‘Kidds’ as part of our mission of inclusion and improving access to sport.
We are old.
Founded in 1989 and with grounds in Tower Hamlets and Newham, Wapping Hockey Club is one of the UK’s largest field hockey clubs and the oldest in East London. We provide affordable membership fees and have home grounds at the Lee Valley Olympic pitch in Stratford and the John Orwell Centre in the beautiful and historic Wapping.
We fight.
We’re delighted to announce the return of Warren D’Souza as Men’s 1st XI Player-Coach for the 2026/27 season.
Warren brings a wealth of experience as both a player and coach. During a playing career spanning more than 20 years, he won four Premier League titles and competed in the Euro Hockey League. He also has extensive coaching experience, including a previous spell in charge of Wapping’s Men’s 1st XI in the National League.
Having also served as Wapping’s Vice Chair of Performance for the past two seasons, Warren knows the club well.
Speaking about his return, Warren said:
“Wapping is a great club with a huge membership and facilities that are second to none. The club’s ambition is to be playing at a higher level, and I’m looking forward to helping achieve that as best I can.”
We grow.
Wapping Hockey Club is run by dedicated volunteers and we encourage and support those who want to get involved. We invest our time and resources to continue the evolution of hockey in East London, our members, and the local community.
All our teams have dedicated coaches, to ensure everyone is playing at their fullest potential, and we offer coaching and umpire development programmes too. We also have talented press and social teams providing inspiration, cohesion and comms between the club and local community.
We’re fun.
In true East London style, Wapping Hockey Club is the perfect blend of old timers and new joiners from around the world, playing, supporting and having fun together. With a packed social calendar (and someone always keen for a post game pint) whether showing prowess at the golf day, dancing the night away at a social, or just joining for a cuppa after the game, you’re sure to feel like family.
We’re social.
And we’re proud.
Proud of who we are and proud to be an open and inclusive London hockey club. We strongly believe that everyone has the right to be themselves, actively promote respect and inclusion, and support causes and campaigns that raise awareness and build community.
Proud to be supported by Simon Wright Jewellery, E1 Crossfit, The Moretown Belle and a whole host of other great sponsors
