At Wapping Hockey Club we invest significantly to ensure we have the right coaches for each of our teams, whether that’s to continue our climb up the National Hockey League or encourage brand new players at our Back to Hockey sessions.
Our Vice Chair of Performance, Head Coaches and Coach Development Officer are responsible for building on the previous year’s successes and developing our coaching team.

Head Coach
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Burton-Bowen as Head Coach. This move displays the ambition of the club to build on the existing strong foundations and take Wapping to the next level.
“Over the past four seasons, I have worked with the Women’s 1st XI, overseeing a shift towards a performance mentality with the group. The work continues, but I am delighted to see the beginnings of real change. Now, I am excited to be doing the same with the Men’s 1st XI squad whilst also helping to introduce performance elements to other areas of the club.

Coach Development
As well as umpire development, Wapping have a summer coaching program for anyone keen to get into/improve their coaching.
With weekly Back2Hockey sessions, bi-weekly Kidds’ sessions and paid summer camp opportunities it’s a perfect time to get involved.
