Happy Friday! The end of season is in sight and there’s fun to be had every week until then. We’ve got a bunch of teams on the edge of promotion and another set fighting relegation, so set aside your Saturdays, get yourself pitch-side, and get your support on. Read on for all the important dates, end of season admin, how to sign up for CAWHL and a round up of our amazing Kidds tournaments.

East London derby
On Saturday night, the W1 take on East London at 6pm (Lee Valley) in one of their biggest games of the season. With East circling the relegation zone and the W1s going from strength to strength, but just 3 points above, it’s bound to be a juicy game, so let’s get in the stands and bring the winning sideline vibes.
Round off a day of wins with a shindig at The Northcote where there’ll be a live band and a raucous time 🎶🥁🎸
Last game drinks
Our friends at the Northcote are also kindly throwing us a bash on April 5th to celebrate the last games of the season. Hopefully the sun is shining and we can sit in their beautiful beer garden - make sure to head down after your games and celebrate all the promotions!
End of season admin
This is your last chance to vote for the EOSD awards - deadline Monday. A perfect chance to shout out that teammate who’s finally mastered an ariel, or at the very least learnt to turn up to matches in the right socks. There’s also the highly coveted top goal scorer award to be won at EOSD, if you want to be considered for this, your captain needs to have entered your goals in the team spreadsheet - please pester them if this isn’t done so you can be suitably applauded.

Wapping Fundraiser
Join the 1s at our clubhouse, The Moretown Belle, on the 29th March for a night packed with fun and laughter, all for a great cause!

AGM
The annual Wapping AGM will take place on April 22nd, online at 7pm. This is a chance to hear a rundown of everything that happened this year, an overview of finances, and our plans for the future. We need 10% of members to attend to be quorate so please pop this in the diary.
CAWHL is coming!
Everyone’s favourite summer league kicks off on April 28th. Sign up to a team here. We’re still looking for helpers and team captains, please consider stepping in to help the tournament run smoothly.
Eastern City BID Community Fund
We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that Wapping Kidds has been awarded £6,400 from the Eastern City BID Community Fund!
This funding will help cover our Saturday morning Kidds' pitch & coaching costs, plus some much-needed hockey balls, helping us continue our mission of making sports accessible to all kids, no matter their background.

DC Umpiring National League
Congratulations to Dan Carter for being the first Wapping Umpire to umpire a National League Division 1 match last weekend between Wimbledon W2 & Guildford W1s. We are very lucky to have Dan as our Umpire Development Officer, helping newer umpires to learn the ropes - please do utilise his wisdom.
Social media coordinator
We are looking for a Social Media Coordinator. This person will take the lead on managing the media side of projects like Team Takeovers, Derby Days, Pride month and more. They do not need to be a photoshop wiz but should have a keen interest in social media management. If you know anyone looking to get professional experience for their CV, this is the role. Wapping Kidds In2Hockey tournament
Last weekend was an absolutely fantastic weekend for our junior section who hosted a huge In2Hockey event and whose U12B played their first indoor tournament. Massive thanks to all the coaches, umpires, helpers and organisers who made it happen 🫶
U12B topped their pool with 3 great wins (4-1 against Wimbledon), losing to Old Cranleighans in the semi final of the ’London Invitational Indoor Championship’ but winning bronze in the play-off! 🥇
U10B had a draw and 2 losses but managed to make it through for another game after a dramatic penalty shootout and finished off with a win against East 💪
Wapping U10Gs played an amazing tournamen, going through unbeaten in pool play (3 wins and 2 draws), a 1-0 win in the semi-final v London Wayfarers. Unfortunately the only goal we conceded in the tournament was in the last minute of the final v Brom Becks (who we drew with in pool play). Equally matched teams and could have gone either way. Special thanks to all our amazing supporters and mascots.

Sunday 16 March @ Lee Valley
Get to Lee Valley on Sunday to watch Wapping's U14 Boys team take on Old Cranleighans in the London Championship Tier 3 Cup Final. Starting 12.30 on the glory pitch, our U14s will be doing all they can to achieve glory for Wapping Kidds. Half of the Wapping team is made up of the U12 team who last week performed extremely well in their first ever indoor games, losing only in the semi-final to Old Cranleighans in the inaugural London indoor championships. There is a score to be settled.
Sunday 16 March @ John Orwell
JO is host to THREE tournaments, there will be cake, coffee, and a lot of small children wielding hockey sticks. Bound to be fun. Watch your ankles.
