It’s the Final Countdown
With the final games incoming, a few league wins + a couple of promotions in the bag, and some teams still in the running for promotion, it’s going to be a big weekend.
A massive shout out to our Women’s 1st XI who not only smashed the fundraiser last weekend but have finished their first ever National League season mid table - an absolutely incredible achievement. Big shout out to fearless leader, Izzy Montgomery, and Head Coach, Matt Bowen, for their dedication over the years supporting this amazing group of women. We’re all very proud of you.
Big congrats also to our Women’s 2s and 7s who’ve secured promotion, and our Men’s 7s who fought a tough relegation battle to maintain their new place in Div 5.
Oh and if you’re wondering how best to combine sun and success, our friends at The Northcote are throwing us a bash complete with beer garden and Karaoke on Saturday, so grab your teams and head on down!
We’ll be there all night 🎤✨
Final call for End of Season Dinner Tickets
With just over a week ‘til the big day, the deadline for EOSD tickets is midday tomorrow (Friday 4th) so make sure you don’t miss out and get your ticket now!
Raffle tickets, to be in with the chance of winning a beautiful Simon Wright gold and silver tie slide, can also be purchased in advance here or on the night.
As a reminder, if the cost is in any way prohibitive please reach out in confidence to our treasurer, Jules, as the club’s policy is to make our events accessible to all.
Next season registration deadline - April 20th
Please also make sure you’ve registered to play next season if you plan on doing so. It’s imperative we have a clear idea of returning numbers before May when we need to enter all league teams for next season (and doing so will save you £10!)
Team/Club sponsors needed!
We have until mid June to secure as many sponsors as possible so if you work for an organisation or know someone who might be interested in supporting a sports club that runs all the amazing community initiatives ours does please let Sponsorship Secretaries, Estelle and Steph, know. All ideas/suggestions very welcome.
Why the urgency?
With some pretty exciting kit news on the horizon, Estelle and Steph are rethinking how we work with our sponsors to ensure we’re strategic in our approach and are in a position to nurture relationships for the benefit of both parties.
With the increase in publicity that will come with our new kit partner it’s important we formalise our sponsorship offering and ensure we make the most of this opportunity. Historically, sponsorship money has been used to purchase team shirts - something the club does to lower financial barriers to entry. Now we have the opportunity to secure funding and not have to pay for shirts so all money sourced can directly benefit the club.
Additionally, as we’ll have this new kit for a few years we’re seeking long term partners we can promote and support in return for a 3 year investment in the club.

Wapping Fundraiser: A Night to Remember
The Wapping fundraiser was an incredible success, bringing together our fantastic community for an evening of fun, generosity, and celebration. From start to finish, the energy in the room was electric, and the support for the club was nothing short of inspiring.
The evening kicked off with a highly entertaining pub quiz, featuring questions expertly crafted by Cam Blake, Eoin Robinson, Justin Mak, and Joe Trickett. The competition was fierce, with the M7 taking home the title for the second year in a row(!), but the real stars of the show were our brilliant MCs, Joe Chedd and Izzy Montgomery, who delivered every question expertly, even Eoins questionable “London History” round…
The raffle proved to be a massive hit also - with an impressive 40 prizes up for grabs from hockey stash to drinks, getaways, and unique experiences, we saw that whether attendees were there in person or supporting from afar, everyone was eager to get their hands on something, with just under 1,700 tickets sold – a truly jaw-dropping number! With everyone awaiting the announcement of the winners, the MTB tables were dressed with green, blue, yellow and pink numbers, and the excitement was palpable.
Then came the final act of the evening – the much-anticipated silent auction. Before the highest bid was even announced, we had already raised just shy of £2,400. But thanks to an incredibly generous bid of £1,600 from Liam Mills, we reached an astounding total of approximately £4,000 for the club.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without each and every one of you—whether you bought raffle tickets, attended on the night, donated prizes, or supported from afar. If there’s one thing to take away from this event, it’s the incredible strength of the Wapping community. Your enthusiasm, generosity, and support mean the world, and we are beyond excited to reinvest these funds into the club to benefit everyone involved.
A huge thank you also goes out to Louise Beechener for her tireless work both in the lead-up to and during the event. Without her and the incredible team behind us, none of the night’s success would have been possible.
Thank you all for making this fundraiser one to remember - Until next year!
– Jenna Broughton Lloyd
